First organized in 1974,
Escuela del Rio began as a small day-training and activity center for
developmentally disabled adults.
Today, EdR's wide range
of programs and services successfully demonstrates how adults with
differing abilities can work, participate in sports, live independently
and lead full and productive lives.
The mission of all
Escuela del Rio programs is to provided a continuum of services that
promotes independent and integrated lifestyles for people with
developmental disabilities.
This continuum offers
consumers opportunities that maximize their alternatives and choices for
living and working in society and enables them to become participating
and contributing members of their community.
Eligibility for all EdR
programs requires that a person be at least 18 years old, diagnosed as
developmentally disabled and referred by Tri-Counties Regional Center.
